Art of Juel
In my artwork, symbolic and surreal elements merge with contemporary reality, and ancient Egyptian mythology and Far Eastern philosophy intertwine in my imagination.
I have a deep empathy for the Middle East and for ancient Egyptian culture. A Buddhist mindset combined with a contemporary perspective allows me to explore contemporary themes such as philosophy, sensitivity, and wisdom in my diverse works.
Extensive travels in the Arab world, and particularly in Egypt, led me to ancient Egyptian mythology and hieroglyphs as my artistic medium.
For years in Egypt, I studied ancient hieroglyphs under two professors of ancient Egyptian culture and integrated them into my artistic expression. Many ancient Egyptian symbols, such as the eye and the key to life, appear in several of my works.
In the 1990s, I developed the patented art form "Bioglyph," and I am its inventor. On a portrait, sign, or symbol, I paint the story or biography of a famous historical or living figure, or of organizations worldwide, in hieroglyphs.
I want to leave this bioglyphic artwork to the art world as an important historical and unforgettable contemporary testament.
I created the protected art form of hieroglyphic art and am its inventor. In this unique art form, I choose a motif, a completed artwork, and then paint (all or part of) a unique poem or story over it in hieroglyphs. My artistic roots reach back to the time of the pharaohs.
