In front of a cloudless light blue sky, a brown Louis Vuitton monogram suitcase floats, from which two large white falcon wings grow; The falcon with its dark head holds the suitcase with its claws. Above the scene, a white cloud protects with an umbrella handle. Symbolically, the desire to travel, departure and freedom are combined with luxury and the desire to travel. The atmosphere is dreamy, light and full of longing for the big, wide world. This work was created years ago as a sketch on many journeys I have experienced together with my wife. The travels, far countries and cultures had a very strong influence on me as an artist, the ease of taking off by jet and experiencing other cultures.  A very special falcon in Abu Dhabi gave me the inspiration for this work. The white cloud umbrella gave me the feeling of flying freely with the clouds. The Louis-Vuitton suitcase is a wink to the unnecessary luxury madness of certain travellers.

The winged Louis Vuitton suitcase, carried into the big sky by a falcon, is my tribute to the travels that shaped my life and my art. With my wife Judith, I have travelled from South America to Africa and many Asian countries, and each departure has given me new visions. The falcon, one of my favourite animals and a symbol of the cosmopolitan, carries the baggage of desire into the wide world. The floating cloud umbrella handle with the small cloud is my dreamy wink: Traveling means embracing the unknown. I paint this lightness because freedom is the highest good for me.

With a generous format (oil on canvas, 160×120 cm), this work from 2025 is a dreamy motif from my surrealist core and takes up my lifelong theme of travel, distant cultures and freedom. The falcon motif – one of my favourite animals – is a symbol for me as an artist and citizen of the world – it gives me a high iconographic meaning. The fusion of luxury object and symbol of desire makes it a contemporary but poetic statement. In a life's work that has so far been limited to about 350 originals to date, large-format, motifically central works of this quality are included.

My subtly chosen colours flow into the harmony of the inner statements: Rise from it and lead the whole  into  independence and self-reliance, in connection with invisible energy.
